The Two Koh Rong Islands: Koh Rong & Koh Rong Samloem

On last week’s Friday Fantasy, I talked about wanting to visit Koh Rong. Ever since then, I haven’t stopped thinking about going to Koh Rong one day. However, I recently found out that there are two Koh Rong islands and came across a post on an amazing blog, The Siracusas (which I have mentioned many times) on Koh Rong Samloem. I thought I’d share with those of you who are planning to go or just want to go visit (like me)! Not many people know that there are actually two Koh Rong islands, Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem:

One of the photos on the post (below) got published in an in-flight magazine on Bangkok Airways, which is amazing. Needless to say, it’s a cool photo and almost doesn’t look like Cambodia at all! Check out the post for more information on Koh Rong Samloem and also, check out the blog for more amazing photos and destinations.

  1. Yes! I heard the beaches there are like the maldives! There are rave reviews about them! I hope it doesn’t get overdevelop like the ones in Thailand, Malaysia, Phillpines!

  2. Oh you see the map. There is this island called Koh Tang which I think is the most beautiful because it’s so untouch. The water surrounding this island is Azura Blue. One guy I met in Cambodia said he saw a Great White Shark while he was diving there.

  3. I was on Koh Rong 2 weeks ago. The island is beautiful! From our beach we did a rough one hour hike to a beautiful beach, where the sand was amazingly white and the water beautiful. But we were looking for peace and a quiet time, and that was not what we really got: constant noise, either from the generator, the building sites (next to our bungalow to finish a new bungalow quickly….), the parties at nights… after we complained three times and had a lot of hassle we moved to another bungalow resort where we were lucky and got a bungalow right at the beach and it was absolutely quiet. So it is nice but you have to know where to go. Also, some staff members do not know a lot about how to treat complaining customers… but you’ll find that everywhere I guess ;)

I will not go there again but rather try another island. There are, after all, still enough to discover :D

Please say hi!
